This print advert makes women look like the women are made to work and run after the males, also cook for them and care for them in general since in this photo the woman is running after somebody wearing the typical "wife" material clothes.

favourite tv advert

Favorite TV Advert
My favorite advert is the one direction "our moment" perfume commercial simply because i find it cute and humorous, another reason why i like this advert is because, when you think about a perfume advert its always so mature and you expect it to be very serious so more people will buy the product but when it comes to these boys they want you to laugh and smile as much as possible and i find that quite smart but also cute of them.

mini essay

The camera techniques used in this action/adventure movie is mainly jump cut on account of being an action/adventure the audience, being mainly men, will get bored of boring camera techniques such as the zoom as it will not fit in with the movie genre and make it seem slow and subtle.
Jump cut has an effect of making a very long scene seem slower and more interesting and will make more people attracted to the film.

The sound included in this film is usually fast paced and orchestra music making, usually fight scenes, usually include tension music and making the audience more interested.
The editing used in this film is very fast and intense just to impact the scene for example in a fight scene there is usually fast editing such as cross cutting to show the important bits of the scene.

The main scenes are usually fight scenes as this is part of the codes and conventions of an action/adventure genre for example 'The Avengers' wouldn't have slow paces romantic music as it will not fit in with the genre and make the audience confused, this is why the sound, camera techniques and the editing are very important as it identifies the type of movie it is to insure the audience are informed it is an action/adventure film.

Conventional Element
How is it used in Action/Adventure films?
Protagonist

Usually the protagonists are casted as young attractive males or young attractive females which portray an innocent clean character.
Another thing is that they usually wear bright rich clothes to show they have a lot of money.
Antagonist

Usually the antagonists are casted as old wicked looking actors to inform the audience that they are the bad guys.
They usually wear old tatted clothes that represent how old and ragged they are.
They usually portray an old wicked man which is a conventional element in the action adventure genre.

Other characters

The other characters are either on the good side or the bad side as you can tell by what ship they’re on or what they’re wearing.
The protagonists and the antagonists usually wear different colours as the baddies usually wear dark, ugly ragged clothes whereas the good people wear bright, nice colours or rich clothes.
Plot

The plot of the movie is simply a war between the protagonists and antagonists which is a conventional element in an action/adventure genre.
Locations

The location is in the middle of the sea as it’s a pirate film which is a conventional element in the stereotypical pirate movie.
Soundtrack

The background music is either past paced orchestra to make the audience feel tense and inform that action is about to take place.
Camera

The camera angles are usually high angle or low angle to emphasise the importance of that character for example if a character is superior the camera would be held at a low angle to show they are powerful wheras if a character is vunerable the camera would be held at a high angle.
Mise-en-Scene

The props used in this movie are cannons and planks to insure that this is a typical pirate film.
Editing

The editing usually used in this film is quick cuts and different camera angles.

What sounds are conventional to Action/Adventure?
Most sounds that are used in action/adventure are usually tense fast music to enhance the scene, for example mostly used in fast pace fighting scenes.

Explain how music can be used to build up tension.
Music can be used to build up tension simply by crashing with the noise of fighting scenes to take the audience to the edge of their seats.

Suggest how sound is used to attract its target audience.
If in a fighting scene slow and emotional music is used the audience would usually be confused and lose interest, whereas if fast paced music is used it will create a tension that will pull in the audience and want to make them see what happens next.

http://www.iftin13gcseacs.blogspot.co.uk/

What is the title of the film, when was it released, who directed it and who stars in it?

The title of the film is called "The Hunger Games"
The director is called Gary Ross
The two main characters are:
Jennifer Lawrence-  Katniss Everdeen
Josh Hutcherson – Peeta Mellark
What is the sub-genre of the film? What signifiers reveal this to the audience?

The sub-genre of the film is also romance because the two main characters are a girl and a boy which is a part of a typical "love story"

What is the plot of the film? Is this a conventional action/adventure plot? Why?

The film is about a 16-year-old girl, Katniss Everdeen, who lives in the nation of Panem in North America. The Capitol, a highly advanced metropolis, exercises political control over the rest of the nation. The Hunger Games are an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12–18 from each of the twelve districts surrounding the Capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle to the death.

Who is the protagonist of the film? What is he/she like? Is he/she a conventional hero? Why?

The protagonist is Katniss everdeen, her character comes across as shy and quiet in the beginning of the movie but towards the ending she becomes superhero-like.
She isn’t a conventional hero since typical heros in the movies are usually undercover and katniss isn’t.

Who is the antagonist in the film? What is he/she like? Is he/she a conventional villain? Why?

The antagonists are Cato the boy tribute, and Clove the girl tribute from district 2.
They are not conventional villains because usual villains have a grudge or have a history with the protagonist but in this case the villains and hero are forced to fight until death.

Are there any other conventional characters in the film? Who are they and why are they conventional?

Primrose everdeen- who is katniss sister which is a big part of the movie since it was primrose originally to be in the hunger games but being her older sister katniss “volunteered as tribute”

Gale Hawthorne- is Katniss Everdeen's best friend and hunting partner.

What are the main signifiers used in the film to reveal it is action/adventure to the audience? Think about locations used and the mise-en-scene.

The main point is where it is set – its set in a fictional place in north America.
Suzanne Collins has said that Panem is supposed to be like ancient Rome: "Panem itself comes from the Latin expression 'Panem et Circenses' which translates into 'Bread and Circuses'.

Think about one of the action-sequences in the film.
What diegetic and non-diegetic sounds do you hear? Are these conventional?
Diegetic = the characters in the film can hear this sound
Non-diegetic = only the audience can hear this. E.g. voice-over, soundtrack

In the part where they all go to fight in the actual hunger games I mostly hear non-diegetic
sounds which is suspenseful and also scary music and the diegetic sounds I hear are the
tributes firing guns and pleading not to die.

Think about one of the action-sequences in the film. What type of
camera shots do You see?
Is the editing slow or fast-paced? Why do you think this is?

Most of the camera shots are either close ups or long shots to show the audience the
reaction of the characters and to show where the characters are or how they are running.
The editing is mostly face paced to show fear and show how scared the characters are.

Does the film break any conventions of the action/adventure genre?
If yes, why do you
think it has done this? If no, why do you think it has stuck to the
conventions?

I think it hasn’t broke the convention of a action/adventure genre because most if these
movies have the same conventions “the hunger games” has such as:

-       A romance
-       Villain(s)
-       Heros
-       Unusual settings
